Yemen's Houthis Say Launched Drone Attack On Saudi Aramco Facility

Three rockets were intercepted in the capital and the southern cities of Jizan and Najran, according to state media and the Saudi-led coalition fighting the Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen.

They have frequently claimed attacks, including on Aramco facilities, that Saudi Arabia and its main ally the United Arab Emirates have either said did not happen or were intercepted.

One of the drones was targeting the Abha worldwide airport in Asir province, which led to a temporary suspension of air traffic, and a second was approaching a "civilian object" in Jizan province, Colonel Turki al-Malki said in a statement published by the state-run Saudi Press Agency.

Earlier this month, a Saudi oil tanker was targeted by the Houthi movement off Yemen's port of Hodeidah, sustaining minor damages and completing its course north.

An Israeli military construction vehicle next to the security fence in northern Gaza was the target of an attempted.

As the announcement on the missile interceptions emerged, Malki also said in a separate statement that Saudi air defences had shot down two unmanned Yemeni drones on Wednesday in southern Saudi Arabia.

The Reuters news agency quoted the Houthi's Al Masirah TV channel as saying that it had launched a drone strike on a facility in Saudi Arabia belonging to the oil company Saudi Aramco.

Saudi Aramco operates a 400,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Jizan, part of a new economic city on the Red Sea.

More than 10,000 people have been killed in Yemen since the beginning of the conflict.

The Houthis have stepped up ballistic missile attacks on the kingdom in what it says is retaliation for the air raids. Saudi Arabia and the coalition it leads in Yemen accuse the Houthi movement of being sponsored and backed by Iran, while Tehran and the rebels deny those charges.
