March for Our Lives: St. Louis rallies against gun violence

Thousands of people marched in downtown St. Louis on Saturday morning to protest gun violence and advocate for stricter gun control.

The planning for the national March For Our Lives in Washington, D.C., and hundreds of local marches, began after last month's killing spree at a Parkland, Fla., high school that left 17 people dead. "Either represent the people or get out". "After countless shootings and 'thoughts and prayers, ' we all realized it was up to us to make the change we wanted to see". Hundreds of sister protests are taking place in cities across the United States, including Philadelphia, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

It wasn't clear Saturday whether the women were affiliated with Grandmothers against Gun Violence, a Seattle-based gun control group.

Jemima James from Philadelphia says it is unfortunate that safety at schools has deteriorated to this point and she wants more armed security officers to harden up schools which are soft targets containing our most precious resources. "Remembering is hollow if we keep looking into the past".
