January In March… Still Watching Mid-Week Storm

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning or watch for more than half of West Virginia's 55 counties starting early Tuesday.

He said the chances for snow look to be on the rise heading into the Wednesday evening commute.

Unfortunately the sunshine is a one day only sale and I am expecting rain and snow to return to the forecast on Wednesday. Yet, as with storms in the past, heavy rain and strong coastal winds will accompany the snow through the two days.

A second low pressure system moves up the coast for Wednesday, and with it a potentially significant snowfall amid equally significant uncertainty.

Heavy, wet snow is expected to blanket the area.

Timeline: There's a chance for snow during the day on Tuesday before mixing with rain in the late afternoon and then back to snow overnight. Now, most of the weather models are agreeing that this will probably not be the case. Coastal communities immediately north and south of the city are likely to see 8 to 9 inches, while the Cape and Islands could see anywhere from about 1 to 5 inches.

Winds will peak on Wednesday, with gusts to 40+ miles per hour across interior NJ and 50+ miles per hour along the coast.

Snow will gradually end across the area Wednesday.
