The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel was voted for her fourth term by the Social Democrats Party (SDP) on Sunday.
In her most recent government statement on European policy last week, she said, "We need a new start for Europe".
All that "requires us to begin work quickly in the government".
The US currency was also on slippery footing after President Donald Trump last week proposed tariffs on imported steel and aluminium, raising fears of retaliation from its trade partners that could trigger a trade war. But after Merkel's attempt to cobble together a government with two smaller parties failed, the SPD relented. The war in Syria, which could result in more refugees arriving in Germany, is also a prime concern.
Former SPD Chairman Martin Schulz was forced to resign when he initially ruled out another grand coalition.
"I hope they step on the gas pedal, when it comes to Europe".
In the elections on September 24., Merkel's party had 33 percent of the votes followed by SPD with 20.5 percent, the nationalist Alternative for Germany with 12.6 percent, the liberal Free Democrats with 10.7 percent, the left with 9.2 percent and the Greens with 8.9 percent.
It is not the result she would have wanted when she began her election campaign previous year - she had to surrender control of key government departments including the powerful finance ministry to get a deal.
SPD secretary general Lars Klingbeil said his party wants the government, expected to be in place this month, to make social issues its top priority.
Had the long-time German leader faced a "no" result, she would have been left with only two realistic options: forming a minority government or seeking a new election. Despite agreeing on broad policy outlines, the two blocs remain divided on how to implement policies on immigration, auto emissions, labour rules and welfare.
Sixty-six percent of the 464,000 rank-and-file members of the Social Democrats party on Saturday agreed to form a coalition. Both sides had been weakened as voters angry about the arrival of more than a million asylum seekers in Germany since 2015 turned to the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD).
The two blocs reached a 179-page coalition agreement document in early February, detailing the main issues such as policy orientations, spending and which party will name ministers in the new government. This means that the 16-strong cabinet, including Merkel, will have seven woman and nine men. In power since 2005, she has led Germany and the European Union through the financial and debt crises, but her waning authority at home could complicate efforts to deepen integration in the euro zone.
Congratulating the SPD for its "clear result", Merkel said she was looking forward to 'further cooperation for the good of our country, ' according to a tweet attributed to her on her CDU party's account.
If passed by the Senate, the House would then debate the legislation during the final week of the 2018 legislative session. The body then moved to other legislation on guns. "I'm going to fight for a voluntary program", said Galvano.

In Lewandowski's telling, when Trump asked Hicks "to be the press secretary for my campaign", Hicks had replied, "Which one?" Again, the timing of her resignation in conjunction with the Russian Federation investigation feels too suspicious to ignore.
