Freezing rain warning issued for Halifax by Environment Canada

Snow mixed with ice pellets may accumulate 2cm to 5cm by Sunday morning before changing to freezing rain.

Although the freezing rain will likely persist for several hours, ice accumulations are expected to be limited to a few millimetres.

More unsafe weather conditions are coming for the Montreal area, with a drizzle starting Saturday afternoon before turning into freezing rain by Sunday.

Driving conditions are expected to be impacted Sunday night but Meteorologist Mark Schuster with Environment Canada tells CFRA it's not expected to impact Monday morning's commute.

"Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery".

Parts of Quebec, including Montreal, are in for several hours of freezing rain, making travel hard and risky. "Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance", the weather warning reads.

A freezing rain warning remains in effect for areas around the region including Guelph, Erin, Southern Wellington County, Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo. "Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays".
