The 35-year-old Salling's next of kin have not yet been notified and his body remains at the scene while officials continue their investigation.

He played bad-boy Noah "Puck" Puckerman on the long-running show, which concluded in 2015.

Salling's attorney, Michael J. Proctor, issued a statement confirming the death.

"Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious".

Salling was indicted in May 2016 on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Salling, 35, was indicted in May 2016 on two counts of receiving and possessing child pornography, almost five months after he was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department. The former actor was said to have attempted suicide previously when he cut his wrists in August of past year.

Salling had agreed to a sentence of 4-7 years in his plea deal.

The sentencing was scheduled to take place in March, but Salling was out on bail ahead of the court appearance. Police found a cache of explicit images on his computer depicting children as young as 10 in sexual situations.

Salling would have had to register as a sex offender, and would have been barred from speaking to anyone under the age of 18 without the presence of a parent or legal guardian.
