Patriots issue hypothetical status report for this Sunday with Rob Gronkowski out

Since the New England Patriots earned another trip to the Super Bowl, there have been serious questions about the status of All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski for the contest.

The Patriots listed both Gronkowski and Wise as "Out" on Friday's projected injury report.

The Patriots are preparing to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII next Sunday in Minneapolis.

In the portion of practice open to the media Saturday, Gronkowski jogged, stretched and caught a few passes in a drill in which there was no defense.

"It's always great to have him out there". The quarterback missed parts of practices leading to the AFC title game but was able to play.

However, his presence means a whole heckuva lot for New England.

Those instances don't include any stints on injured reserve, including his season-ending ACL tear in December 2013. And, it has huge implications for the Super Bowl.
