India to welcome Davos meet with 'desi' cuisine, Yoga sessions tomorrow

PM Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to attend Davos meeting in about 20 years since HD Deve Gowda in 1997. Days before his first visit to Davos for the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting, Modi told Zee News in an interview that India has made a mark globally and there is a need to reap the benefits.

According to Abhishek, the Indian PM is expected to be in Davos only for a day, but will meet the top officials of about 60 companies, including Airbus, Hitachi, IBM, BAE Systems and the Carlyle Group.

The White House will decide "day-to-day" on whether President Donald Trump, members of his Cabinet and other administration officials will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this week.

Mr Modi will address the plenary session of the World Economic Forum on the 23rd during his visit.

The two leaders are unlikely to have a meeting in Davos mainly due to their different days of attendance at the forum meeting. It is natural that the world wants to talk directly to India and the world wants to hear directly from the horse's mouth about India's policies and potential.

Another star speaker will be ex-RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, who has been praised as well as criticised often for his vocal views on everything from politics to economics and is credited for predicting the global economic crisis of 2008.

When asked about criticism whenever GDP growth slows, Modi said it is a good thing since the country's focus has shifted towards economy and growth.

He will speak on the power of economic narratives and how policymakers can address the challenges of the 21st century.
