Razer's phone-powered laptop is less insane than it seems

Razer Project Linda is just a concept at present, but given enough enthusiasm from Razer Phone owners could see the light of day at some point. The Razer Phone, launched a few weeks ago as a device for gamers with a 120 Hz IGZO display and focused on content consumption with loud front facing speakers, is now the recommended premium device that Netflix suggests to watch Netflix content on. This is because the phone can also be utilized as a touchpad or a second display for apps, tools, and other usages while being docked into Project Linda's laptop shell. Razer is playing to the phone strengths (the speakers), much in the same way that other smartphone brands are partnering with well-known companies on their strengths (Huawei with Leica). Although it's a lot more powerful than the Atrix was, powered by an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 8GB of RAM, the phone isn't only used to power Project Linda; it's also a fundamental part of a clever dual-screen design.

Project Linda is only in the conceptual stage at the moment, something for Razer to show off at CES 2018 in hopes of scoring another Best Of award.

What do you think of Razer's Project Linda laptop/phone hybrid?

Being the first device that officially supports both premium HDR10 and 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus, the Razer Phone will be given access to a special version of the Android Netflix app that enables users to enjoy the full scope of the two audio and video formats on their devices. Now Razer did mention that if you put the Phone in backwards and try to dock it, Project Linda will still push out the USB-C port. "It features a gorgeous, 13.3" display and a full sized keyboard.

The most interesting aspect of Project Linda is how it puts the Razer Phone to use.

Project Linda takes on a form similar to the Razer Blade Stealth laptop, but replaces the trackpad with a docking port that connects to the Razer Phone via USB-C.

As with many of Razer's CES reveals over the years, this is a prototype for the time being and may not make it to the market.
