Quake detected near North Korea nuclear site

The threat emerging from North Korea's rogue regime is "increasing every day", according to White House national security advisor H.R. McMaster.

"I think it's increasing every day, which means that.we are in a race to be able to solve this problem", he said at a forum on Saturday. On Wednesday, 29 November, the North fired the long-range missile which flew about 950kms and touched an altitude of 4,475kms during the almost hour-long flight before hitting the sea waters off the Japan coast.

The launch was a message of defiance to President Donald Trump's administration, which a week earlier had restored North Korea to a US list of terror sponsors. But he said that Pyongyang's actions had made America's alliances with Japan and South Korea "stronger than ever".

Last week, North Korea shattered 2½ months of relative quiet by firing off an intercontinental ballistic missile that some observers say showed the reclusive country's ability to strike the U.S. East Coast.

"The situation clearly proves that the United States and the South Korean puppet war maniacs are just aggressors and provocateurs breaking peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula".

Seoul's Korean Times quoted a defence source, who is aware of the latest development, as saying that the brigade's mission will be to eliminate key North Korean authorities if there is a full-fledged conflict in the region.

Washington is battling to maintain worldwide solidarity in the face of the North nuclear threat after Russian Federation warned that sanctions have failed and China sidestepped talk of an oil embargo. "I don't think anybody likes a military solution".

North Korea reacted angrily on Sunday to the air manoeuvres, accusing the US and South Korea of a "grave military provocation" that will "push the already acute situation on the Korean Peninsula to the brink of nuclear war".

North Korea has warned that a "reckless" joint military drill by the US and South Korea could spark a nuclear war.

Kim himself was absent from the Friday's celebrations - he usually stays away from such events - but the gathering drew key military, party and government leaders.

The isolationist state recently tested a new intercontinental ballistic missile that, it claimed, could reach anywhere on the U.S. mainland.

On the heels of Wednesday's emergency Security Council session on the test-firing, however, he could not offer new details on what the council may decide to do to in response.
