Mourinho pleased with Lukaku's work-rate, mentality

The Belgian global is waiting to discover whether his actions during a Premier League clash with Brighton will see him stung by retrospective punishment.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho praises Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian's recent goalscoring record has dropped significantly from the start of the season, when he netted 11 times in his first 10 games for the club following a £75m move from Everton in the summer.

United next visit Watford, who are eighth on the league table after an impressive 3-0 win at Newcastle United on Saturday.

Mourinho's side, now second in the league, remain eight points behind leaders Manchester City, who are unbeaten with 37 points after 13 matches.

"[I like to see] people like Romelu Lukaku playing on the right, on the left, chasing defenders, the midfield players chasing the space in the middle, so I am happy with the attitude", he said.

The incident was not included in referee Neil Swarbrick's match report and, after reviewing video footage, an FA panel failed to come to a unanimous verdict, meaning the 24-year-old will not be charged.

"In the last minute he (Lukaku) was fighting and running back like he was in the first minute, so I think it is also a mentality question", Mourinho told reporters. So Romelu, for me, was fantastic.

Fortunately for him, he will get another chance today, should he play against Watford. "Didn't score, I don't care".
