South Shore: Veterans Day Observance Events

- The Veterans Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley in Parkersburg will hold its annual Veterans Day open house from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m.

For those who can't attend, the Courier will be showing live video of the parade from the newspaper office on Main Street.

After the ceremony, people can then attend the Veterans Day Parade that begins at 10 a.m. Instead, as put forth by Hardin County Veterans Services Officer C.D. Rickman, all local Vietnam War veterans have been collectively declared grand marshals.

The Tri-Town parade which includes Rockland, Whitman, and Abington kicks off tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. on Union St.in Rockland and will go through Rockland Center before ending at Rockland Plaza on Route 123. The parade begins at 11 a.m.in front of Fresno City Hall.

Following the ceremony in the park, the ceremony will move to the roundabout on the eastside of town.Parking will be available in the Schwans and Olon Industries parking lots.

The U.S. flag, Tennessee flag and each flag representing a branch of the military will be raised, led by retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col.

"It's a remembrance, and a time to give thanks to the veterans who keep us free", he said. The parade ends at Mill Creek Park Veterans Memorial off Broadway.

Westminster Presbyterian Church will salute veterans during its 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday with the South Knox marching band, directed by Joyce Kim Rohrer.
