Massive tax raids at Sasikala-Dinakaran kin, associates, premises (Third Lead)

On the raid in the farm house, the I-T official said it was held as part of searches into Jaya TV's account.

On Thursday the Income Tax department cracked down on business establishments owned and associated with jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala - and how!

Meanwhile, in all the premises where searches were conducted, Tamil Nadu police provided security to I-T department officials.

"Dhinakaran today said the Income-Tax raids at the residences of his family members were aimed at removing him and his aunt and jailed leader V K Sasikala from politics".

Also, the searches followed allegations covering aspects like shell companies, dubious investments, suspicious fund flow and its transfers and fudging of account. "We have confirmed information about concealment of income and tax evasion. We told the taxi company that the drivers will not be allowed to use their phones", said the official. "The raids are being carried out in 187 places", he said.

I-T officials said the raids under "Operation Clean Money" targeted shell firms belonging to 10 groups, including those run by members of Sasikala family.

Income Tax (I-T) department is conducting raids at All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Karnataka in-charge V Pugazhendi's residence at Damlur locality of Bangalore.

The searched premises include those belonging to Jaya TV (Mavis Satcom Ltd), its associates, Jazz Cinemas, an alcoholic beverages brewery, Midas Distilleries, a jewellery outlet and other firms, the official said.

Chennai: Earlier this morning, Jaya TV Headquarters were raided by Taxmen, who were looking for documents and files that could be related to Taxes, since there have been doubts about Tax Evasion from some sources. Raids are also being conducted in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi. The OPS-EPS faction opposes the Sasikala-Dinakaran faction.

Following the factional divide in the ruling AIADMK, Jaya TV has been critical of the government led by chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O. Panneerselvam.
