Pune ODI: New Zealand reach 149-5 in 35 overs

In the sting operation by India Today TV, Salgaoncar is seen and heard speaking to an undercover reporter, who poses as a bookie, while standing on the pitch of the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium on the eve of the second One-day global.

The second ODI between India and New Zealand which is scheduled in Pune has come under scanner after Pune pitch curator Pandurang Salgaoncar was seen giving inside information to reporters disguised as bookies, in a sting operation done by Generalist.

India won the game by six wickets to level the three- match series. With the tampering allegations surfacing against Salgaoncar hours before the game, there were doubts whether the second ODI in Pune will go ahead as planned.

"A neutral curator from Mumbai has taken charge (for the New Zealand ODI)".

The reporters, who posed as bookies/fixers, asked Salgaonkar that two players want bounce on the pitch and if it can be arranged to which Salgaonkar replied, "it will be done".

ICC officials cleared the match to start on schedule after India's cricket board banned Salgaoncar from the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) ground. "Rest assured, if anyone found guilty, strict action will be taken", Abhay Apte, the president of MCA was quoted as saying by India Today.

The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has sought a detailed report from the local host MCA. "The BCCI is in touch with the MCA and appropriate measures will be taken with regards to the matter". BCCI added that they will stick to their zero tolerance policy towards corruption. "The BCCI will continue to enforce strict measures in case of such misconduct in the future".
