Three Arrested After Shooting Following White Nationalist Speech

The three individuals - Tyler Tenbrink, 28, William Fears, 30, and Colton Fears, 28 - are all from Texas, according to police. Police said at least two of the three Texas men have connections to right-wing extremist groups. Police said he is a convicted felon and faces other charges of possession of a firearm by convicted felon. Before he was arrested, Tenbrink told a Washington Post reporter that he had attended the "Unite The Right" rally in Charlottesville and applauded Richard Spencer because "the man's got the brass to say what nobody else will".

Police got a report just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday that men in a silver Jeep began to argue with a group of protestors near a bus stop on Southwest Archer Road.

Tenbrink fired a single shot toward someone in the group, police said. The suspects then drove off, but not before a victim was able to record their license plate number which was then provided to police.

The suspects fled in a auto and were later arrested by an off-duty officer who noticed the vehicle while driving home from working at the Spencer event, police said.

Gainesville area law enforcement located and arrested three men about 20 miles north of Gainesville late Thursday for their role in a shooting that followed the afternoon speech by Richard Spencer.

The Fears brothers are being held with a $1 million bond. The other two suspects, who are brothers, allegedly encouraged Tenbrink to shoot the people in the group.

The sheriff's department was one of several police agencies represented at the event, which required massive security efforts that cost the university more than $500,000.

The incident happened the same day Spencer gave a speech at the University of Florida, where he was heckled and drown out by protesters.

Florida's governor had declared a state of emergency for the event.

Leading up to the start of the event, audience members at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts began to boo before Spencer even took the stage.

Earlier Thursday, Tenbrink told the paper he had driven to Gainesville from Houston to see Spencer speak.

Tenbrink and William were spotted in Charlottesville, Va., site of the largest white nationalist gathering in years that erupted in violence. "Us coming in and saying we're taking over your town, we're starting to push back, we're starting to want to intimidate back".
