Las Vegas Shooter Booked Rooms in Chicago Facing Lolapalooza

Sources told TMZ that Paddock specifically requested a room with a view, and that he had never booked a room at the hotel before.

A law enforcement official says Stephen Paddock booked a room at a Chicago hotel that overlooked a park where a music festival was held in August, but there's no indication he went there.

The details came to light as investigators struggled to figure out why the 64-year-old high-stakes gambler opened fire on a crowd of 22,000 Sunday night from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel casino.

Chicago police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said: "We are aware of the media reports and have been in communication with our federal partners".

The law enforcement official confirming the Chicago booking said there's no evidence Paddock ever showed up to the hotel, the AP said, citing the unnamed source who had been briefed on the investigation but was not authorized to discuss it.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo told reporters that Paddock had used Airbnb to book a room at The Ogden.

TMZ wrote that Paddock, who had asked for a room with a view, would have had a bird's-eye view of all of the Lollapalooza stages and main entrance from the 20th floor.

It is understood the tanks were about 330m away from the festival site where 58 people were killed and more than 480 injured. She was visiting her native Philippines.

The dates of the reservations covered the four-day event, which drew hundreds of thousands of music fans, including former president Barack Obama's daughters Malia and Sasha, as well as Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

McMahill said investigators had reviewed voluminous video from the casino and don't think Paddock had an accomplice in the shooting, but they want to know if anyone knew about his plot beforehand.

In the days after the attack, it remained unclear why Paddock carried out his attack.

Australia's foreign affairs department said Friday it is aware she is "a person of interest" and described her case as "a matter for USA law enforcement".

Two House members said Friday they plan on introducing a bipartisan bill to ban bump stocks.

"We have been down each and every one of these paths", McMahill said.
