Niasse is Everton's unlikely matchwinner against Bournemouth

Of all the No10s at Koeman's disposal it seemed a trifle odd to choose Davy Klaassen for the central role.

When Ronald Koeman was given the green light to heavily invest in his Everton squad over the summer, sitting in the relegation zone five games into the season can't have been anticipated. "Any ex-players and all my family say 'play as long as possible because there'll be plenty of time to sit back and do different things'". Since delivering easily the best performance by an Everton forward this season in the 1-1 draw at Manchester City in August, Calvert-Lewin has started none of the three subsequent league matches.

This game should put this desire to bed.

The midweek victory saw impressive displays from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Oumar Niasse in particular, with both finding themselves on the scoresheet and ending Everton's drought.

Everton have faced Bournemouth four times at home in all competitions and come victorious on all four occasions.

He wasn't even given a locker at Finch Farm, the club's training ground.

As well as the likes of Jordan Pickford and Gylfi Sigurdsson being poised to come back in, Wayne Rooney is set to make his first appearance since pleading guilty to drink-driving.

Now Koeman has to swallow his pride and consider the player for a starting spot. He scored as a substitute then, too, and could be the answer to Everton's problems in attack.

Considering the two teams that were facing each other, this match would see one club relieving the pressure and one pushed further into trouble. Bournemouth have just managed to get one win in their first five fixtures.

Visitors Bournemouth could well keep faith with the side that beat Brighton in the Premier League last weekend. Displaying a trait not always found in more esteemed and experienced teammates, the young midfielder has a willingness to seek possession that has been absent of late.

Andrew Surman collected Ibe's return pass to equalise midway through the second half before former Liverpool winger Ibe slid through a clever ball for Jermain Defoe to lash home the victor - his first goal for the club since signing in the summer.

Joshua King chose to take a direct approach, and after cutting in from the wing and leaving Mason Holgate in his wake the striker beat Jordan Pickford with a crisp shot from the edge of the area.
