Delhi woman arrested for slapping army officer

As the traffic stopped, the army jawan walked up to the woman to seek an explanation for her rash driving and refusal to give them way.

According to him, the woman had suddenly stopped her TATA Indica vehicle, walked up and started hitting him.The soldier did not resist and just kept asking her the reason. In his complaint, Mahavir Singh Rathore, the Army Subedar, alleged that the auto was being driven ahead of them by accused Smriti Kalra in a zig-zag manner.

When the Army driver honked a few times, the FIR claimed, Kalra slowed down and refused to allow the truck to pass.

A Video went viral on Tuesday on social media where Smriti is slapping an army staff on road. The Army group claimed that she similarly held him by his collar and slapped him too. He tried to ask her about their fault but she kept abusing them.

Kalra got married to an Army officer's son in 1995 and was divorced in 2008 over marital issues.

"Without any provocation from our side, the woman started hurling abuses and slapped me and my driver for 5-7 minutes".

Realising that the situation might get out of hand, the woman walked towards her auto and sped off.

In the video, the woman stops her white Tata Indica infront an Army vehicle ferrying soldiers and picks a verbal fight with one of them. However, the Army officer had asked his colleague to do a video recording of the incident.

Police said Smriti Kalra of Gurugram's Phase-5 was arrested on charges of assaulting a public servant and deterring him from discharging his duty. Subsequently, Kalra was arrested from her home in Gurugram and police also seized her vehicle.
