Wilshere looking good ahead of Arsenal return - Wenger

Ahead of their first European game in 25 years, Cologne have shipped their opponents Arsenal a complimentary gift package that includes a scarf, keyring, cuddly toy, boxer shorts. and a blank team sheet to be filled in and returned by Arsene Wenger.

"They can all have an opinion on the manager and the players, it's their right".

Arsenal made a return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday thanks to a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium. And Wenger is clearly prioritising that one, with a host of big names sitting out Wednesday's session.

On whether long time absentee Jack Wilshere will play against Cologne, Wenger said he is yet to decide. "We got 75 points previous year and overall, I am humble enough to be happy to win every competition". If he is injury-free, he will come back to his best.

FC Koln are yet to win a match in England, having previously played five times in the country (D2 L3) - overall W2 D4 L6. Alexandre Lacazette's arrival in the summer had deemed him a backup choice at best, but Danny Welbeck's upturn in form is now threatening to put the Frenchman into the periphery. "If you are going to get knocked out, you are better off doing it early on so you can concentrate on the other trophies".

"Every game is an opportunity for him and this season is a good opportunity for him as well".

A strong showing can go a long way in helping Giroud grab a positive result for the Gunners, it will also give Arsene Wenger some pleasant selection dilemma, and possibly a larger role to the player over the course of the season.

But Wilshere stayed and, having returned to full training following a fractured leg suffered towards the end of his time with Bournemouth, the England global is now expected to come back into the Arsenal side.

Midfield: Wenger is expected to make plenty of changes in midfield with several of his key men rested ahead of our trip to Stamford Bridge this coming weekend.
