Angelina Jolie: My kids worked hard on film set

Angelina and five of her six children hit the Toronto Film Festival red carpet for the premiere of The Breadwinner. Jolie directed this movie, and it tells the story of a Cambodian human rights activist, US Weekly reported.

Later that day, Angelina participated in a discussion with Rithy on stage in front of a live audience.

They were all there to see the first screening of The Breadwinner - movie she co-produced. Points for following through exactly on the mission statement, I'd say, and points for, in the film's closing moments, putting paid to that promise to make a plea for Americans to remember Cambodia, even if this country would rather forget.

Angelina Jolie, she had the particularly serene air to present The Breadwinner.

It "tells the sad reality of many girls having to work and not go to school", said Jolie.

Jolie said her first major movie as a director, the 2011 Bosnian war drama In The Land Of Blood And Honey, was prompted by her humanitarian work as a special envoy for the United Nations refugee agency.

First They Killed My Father will debut on Netflix on September 15.

Following their giggle fest, the kids - Maddox, 16; Pax, 13; Zahara, 12; Shiloh, 11; Vivienne, 9, and Knox, 9 - posed for photos with Jolie and Ung, along with the film's stars, Kimhak Mun and Sareum Srey Moch.

Jolie brought all six of her children to the premiere and they spent time together during the festival, calling it, "Wonderful".

"The people I have met over the years are truly my heroes".

After keeping a relatively low profile - at least as much as is possible for one of the most famous women in the world - since her split from husband Brad Pitt past year, Jolie is back at the top of the marquee.

Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand and her father Jon Voight, divorced when the actress was young. I suspect Ung's book fills in those gaps, but Jolie's film has little of the visual and dramatic immediacy the page can't capture.

According to reports, the actress said though she never planned to become a director, she had always wanted to work with artistes from other parts of the world.

"We homeschool and I'm very very aware of their education, mostly very aware of what's lacking".
