Police identify body as missing Temple student

Scranton police filed public drunkenness and similar misconduct charges against Hupperterz in September 2012, court documents show; the case is still listed as active.

Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit Capt. John Ryan says the death doesn't appear to be premeditated.

Police say the ride sharing service Lyft was used to move the body of a missing Temple University student more than 100 miles from where she was killed.

Hupperterz was charged with murder, and faces charges of possession of an instrument of crime, evidence-tampering and abuse of a corpse.

Surveillance camera footage had shown Hupperterz and Burleigh leaving Pub Webb, near the Temple University campus, about 2 a.m. Thursday.

Court documents don't list an attorney for Hupperterz.

The body of Jenna Burleigh was transported inside a storage bin from a North Philadelphia apartment - where she likely died - to the Jenkintown home of the suspect's mother.

Huppereterz is reported to have told detectives that he was so drunk on the night in question that he did not remember who he left the bar with.

Hupperterz, 29, was charged early Sunday with killing the Temple University student from Lower Salford, and he remains behind bars, having been denied bail.

Hupperterz was arrested by police at his grandma's home, as indicated by the Philadelphia Inquirer. He was accused of breaking into a home in 2013 to steal electronics, credit cards and beer, Philly.com reported.

"Our deepest sympathies go out to Jenna's family and her classmates, both here at Temple and at Montgomery County Community College", Englert said.

Burleigh's father received the news of her death on Saturday, writing in a Facebook post, "Our Beautiful Angel Jenna is now in Heaven. Now I know for sure that you can have a "broken heart" RIP honey". She was majoring in film and media expressions.
