Suspension of Ezekiel Elliott : the National Football League continued

After three days and 25-plus hours of hearings, the appeals process of Ezekiel Elliott's six-game suspension ended.

Elliott was suspended six games in August after the National Football League put out a report saying it found enough evidence to suggest the running back physically abused ex-girlfriend Tiffany Thompson.

According to a source, Roberts' recommendation was not included in the investigative report following the 13-month investigation.

Elliott can now potentially be allowed to play while the case works its way through the courts.

"The conspiracy to hide Roberts's conclusions as the co-lead investigator were especially harmful because she was the only one of the co-lead investigators to interview Thompson - and she did so six times", the suit said.[content-3] In addition to Roberts' testimony, Elliott and the players association point to numerous procedural issues that undermine the essential fairness of the NFL's appeals process.

Roberts testified that she conducted two lengthy interviews with Thompson, and also had four follow-up conversations with her throughout the course of her investigation.

The NFLPA's lead attorney representing Elliott, Jeffrey Kessler, is the same lawyer who represented Tom Brady during Deflategate.

With the filing, Elliott claims there's been nothing fair about the entire appeals process, violating even the broad-range of latitude the NFLPA agreed to in the last CBA, authorizing commissioner Roger Goodell to do as he sees fit. She made her point of view on particularly the credibility issues known in the report; they are reflected in the report. "It is the commissioner and the commissioner's sole role to decide on discipline", Lockhart said. That may no longer be the case, as ESPN's Adam Schefter said Thursday Henderson will be expected to announce his ruling by Monday. It is now up to arbitrator Harold Henderson whether to uphold Elliott's six-game punishment after being accused of domestic violence against former girlfriend Tiffany Thompson, reduce it, or vacate it. Although the 2016 season's rushing leader denied all claims regarding the incident, Henderson must thoroughly assess both sides of the case before coming to a decision, and not be too pressured by the added weight of expectations coming from such a prolific player and the franchise he plays for.

The Cowboys open their season at home against the New York Giants on September 10th.
