Kushner promises to present peace plan within four months

Kushner, special representative for global negotiations Jason Greenblatt and deputy national security advisor Dina Powell held talks with the PA president in Ramallah on Thursday after meeting with a number of Middle East leaders in the past several days.

Palestinian Arab officials continued to express frustration on Friday over the fact the USA still has not committed to a two-state solution، even after a meeting described as productive between President Donald Trump's senior adviser، Jared Kushner، and the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah on Thursday، as Arutz Sheva said.

But just days earlier, the Palestinian Authority (PA) had said that, behind closed doors, it would also give Kushner a firm ultimatum - deliver Israeli concessions within 45 days, or we "blow up" your peace process. "It was agreed to continue the dialogue aimed at reaching a comprehensive and historic peace deal". "We know that things are hard and complicated, but nothing is impossible with honest efforts".

The Palestinian source also said Kushner told Abbas the United States was under the impression the PA president does not trust the White House and stressed that the U.S. is working hard toward creating the conditions for a peace deal.

The Palestinian administration had reportedly expressed pessimism at USA peace efforts, and Abbas had reportedly sought a US commitment to endorse the two-state solution.

"While Netanyahu keeps putting up obstacles to avoid getting to the negotiating table for fear that his government will collapse, Abbas wants to move forward because he is under growing domestic pressure", he said.

This is now the second time in as many visits Kushner has repeated Netanyahu talking points at Abbas, thinking that would somehow push peace talks along.

Kushner and Greenblatt traveled to the Middle East previously this summer to meet with Israeli and Palestinian leaders. "We believe that both parties should be able to find a workable solution that works for both of them".

White House aide Jared Kushner meets Israeli and Palestinian leaders Thursday with the aim of restarting long-stalled peace talks, but pessimism is high over President Donald Trump's pledge to reach the "ultimate deal". "We really appreciate the commitment of the prime minister and his team to engaging very thoughtfully and and respectfully in the way that the president has asked him to do so".
