Video footage showing Sasikala entering jail surfaces

The video shows her flanked by male guards which has led to speculation whether she left the prison premises altogether.

She has submitted the security camera footage as part of an anti-corruption investigation commissioned by the state on the basis of her complaints.

It, however, does not throw light on when it was recorded or which part of the jail it is from.

The footage shows VK Sasikala, who is now serving her four-year sentence after being convicted in the disproportionate assests case, dressed in a dark kurta and carrying a bag, walking through the main entry area of the prison along with her sister-in-law Ilavarasi.

The latest CCTV footage that has now surfaced shows guards at the prison opening what appears to be the main gate as Sasikala, wearing a brown salwar and Ilavarasi dressed in a pink saree casually stroll into the prison. Sasikala, friend and aide of former CM Jayalalitha, is now serving four-year jail term at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru after she was found guilty of corruption by the Supreme Court. It is gathered that Roopa had enclosed this footage to her statement made to ACB. Any prisoner who needs to go to the prison office for a lawyer interview or to meet officials needs to enter from "B" gate.

In support of their charges, she had provided 74 enclosures. Recently, a video of VK Sasikala, wearing a dark Kurta entering the jail in Bengaluru went viral on social media.

The video is being produced as a proof that she had been receiving special treatment while inside the jail. She was given a questionnaire to which she submitted her reply along with the evidence on Saturday.

An official order said Deputy Inspector General Roopa "is transferred with immediate effect and posted until further orders" as the Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Traffic and Road Safety.

"Once the commission submits the report, we will know what exactly happened in the prison", he said.
