Sigourney Weaver threatens Marvel heroes in final 'Defenders' trailer

The final trailer of Netflix's hero team-up show "The Defenders" shows that the war for NY is about to begin. And one final trailer for The Defenders shows just how deadly that threat may be.

"The more connections you have, the easier it will be to break you", she tells them in voiceover as we get a glimpse of numerous Netflix Marvelverse's supporting players, including Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).

The trailer gives a glimpse of the dynamics between the characters, solitary figures in their respective television series, who are coming together for the first time with one goal.

Riding the slipstream of the Avengers, X-Men and Fantastic Four, "The Defenders" is promising to bring a more tortured and cerebral superhero vibe to Netflix's ever-growing repertoire of Marvel series.

"The Defenders" is so close we can taste it. From the pics we see some new characters and some old favorites (and villains). And really, I could watch Jessica Jones smirk and call Danny Rand "Ironclad" on repeat for a while. But someone from another Marvel show (hint: he's on "Daredevil") is there to meet him upon release.

Sigourney Weaver is a bona fide badass and Sci-Fi Queen thanks to roles in the Alien and Ghostbusters franchises (as well as the brilliant Galaxy Quest). She's back from the dead, thanks to the mysterious order Alexandra is in charge of. Defenders has been a long time in the making, and it's hard to believe it's nearly here. Especially when you're trying to convince three other highly independent superheroes that it's a good idea to team up. The Defenders feels more tongue in cheek. We get to see each individual hero throw down, see them fight in various smaller (but still awesome) combinations, and, of course, fighting as a complete unit. The reluctance of Jones and the others to formally come together, and then endlessly bickering when they do, is actually a nice nod to the very different origins of The Defenders in the comics.

This leaves Luke and Jessica (who already have a pre-existing relationship as seen in the first season of Jessica Jones) dubious of the "ancient evil organization who are capable of destroying an entire civilization".

"Everybody's so used to working on their own, they all feel that their way is the best way", said Mike Colter, who plays Cage, at a roundtable with journalists in NY.
