Chelsea look to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is demanding a new £120k-a-week deal in order to sign a new contract at the club, amid interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, according to StarSports.

Aside from Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez, one player whose future is surrounded in unknowns is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The 27-times England global was in good form for Arsenal last season as he scored six goals and supplied 11 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

It is understood that Arsenal have backed themselves into a corner due to Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract at the Emirates, which expires next summer.

Arsenal have tried to tie Oxlade-Chamberlain down to a new contract, but so far, the player's representative has rejected all the offers.

In addition to this is the fact that the 23-year-old has seen game time in the wing back position, which makes him a ideal fit for Conte's charges, who employed a back three liberally last season.

The Blues have launched a £35m bid to get him, and Oxlade-Chamberlain is interested in making the move.

Antonio Conte is desperate for reinforcements, and has grown increasingly frustrated at the lack of transfer activity at the club, and sees Oxlade-Chamberlain as a player who can give Chelsea a really good option at wing-back.

Liverpool and Chelsea have both shown an interest in the player this summer. "He is on the way up and he will continue to move up because that potential is there", Wenger said. He's today very conscious of his qualities as well, something he was not always.
