Arab League accuses Israel of 'excessive violence' in Jerusalem

Police used stun grenades as clashes briefly erupted at the Lion's Gate entrance to Jerusalem's Old City, where for the past three days Muslim worshipers have held prayers in protest of the new security measures rather than ascending the compound to pray at the Al-Aqsa mosque.

Three Israelis were also killed in a knife attack in the occupied West Bank illegal settlement of Neve Tsuf late on Friday.

Other clashes between angry Palestinian youths and Israeli forces broke out in several cities across the West Bank after Friday prayers.

The attack took place in the West Bank Israeli settlement of Halamish, located to the north of Ramallah.

Shaare Tzedek hospital reported on Saturday morning that the hospitalized woman had undergone surgery overnight and her condition was now considered serious but "good".

Moreover, in order to avoid overflows on the occasion of the weekly prayer, usually followed by thousands of worshippers, israeli police took the exceptional decision to ban men under 50 years of age access to the old town.

It lies in east Jerusalem, seized by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War and later annexed in a move never recognised by the worldwide community.
