Wimbledon 2017: Andy Murray pulls out of final warm-up match

British duo Andy Murray and Johanna Konta both face a race against time to be fit for their first-round matches at Wimbledon on Monday.

Andy Murray's preparations for the defence of his Wimbledon title have been dealt a blow after he withdrew from his last warm-up match.

But when asked if he was OK, Murray told Sunsport with a smile: "I haven't tested it yet. He was hitting two days ago with Dimitrov and hitting the ball great".

"Sadly I won't be ready to play at Hurlingham on Friday, my hip is still sore and I need to rest it today and likely tomorrow", Sport24 quoted Murray as saying.

Murray was beaten by world No90 Jordan Thompson of Australia, who was only drafted in a matter of hours before the tie following the late withdrawal of Aljaz Bedene through injury. "I just had a light practice this morning to see how I feel and I'll practise again later".

Konta lost to Hsieh in the French Open first round last month but Bubik and Murray have never met before. "I'm midway through my practice".

However, his coach Lendl insists he is "not at all" anxious about the injury and has been pleased by Murray's preparations for Wimbledon.

It is still thought unlikely that the injury will sideline Murray from Wimbledon, which starts on Monday, and the 30-year-old is set to feature in the second scheduled match against an as yet unidentified opponent on Friday. "There is no guarantee that I won't do well at Wimbledon, but it certainly would have helped to have had more matches".
