"Donnarumma is staying with Milan" says club CEO Fassone

AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone has confirmed that goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma will remain with the club next season, but will be free to leave the following summer.

Madrid are one of the clubs to be linked with Donnarumma after he rejected an offer to extend his Milan contract beyond 2018, the Serie A club claiming their offer was worth €50million over five years. This decision has led to a serious backlash from fans as Donnarumma was pelted with fake euro notes and Dollarumma chant during Italy's U21 clash against Denmark.

He said: "Balotelli had a good career and he is fortunate to have Mino Raiola as an agent to help him earn a lot of money. I don't want to leave".

Fassone added that Milan are in the search for a new goalkeeper, with Donnarumma's departure now seemingly inevitable. "Railo kept on telling me that there was not enough time so I was also a little anxious in case I got a negative response".The Milan executive pointed out that the young keeper will be free to join the club of his choice next year, but the Italians hope they can at least coax him to sign a revised contract that wouldn't see Milan losing out, if he decides to leave.
