Trump tweets of witch hunt amid Russian Federation probe, bashes Hillary Clinton

The special counsel is following two major lines of investigation, said one US official familiar with the rough outlines of Mueller's probe who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Earlier this week, The Washington Post reported Mueller was investigating the possibility the President obstructed justice by suggesting then-FBI Director James Comey drop an FBI investigation into Michael Flynn.

Trump advisers and confidants describe the president as increasingly angry over the investigation, yelling at television sets in the White House carrying coverage and insisting he is the target of a conspiracy to discredit - and potentially end - his presidency.

On Thursday: "You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people!"

Taking to his Twitter feed early Friday morning, Donald Trump doesn't appear pleased that he is now under investigation.

Mueller last month to investigate whether members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russian operatives to influence the outcome of last year's presidential election. Comey confirmed that in his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee last week.

Sounds like someone just watched The Witches for the first time...

The tweet came around 9:10 a.m. Friday.

Comey testified that not everyone on his Federal Bureau of Investigation team agreed he should. Joe Lieberman, former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating, former FBI official Richard McFeely and acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, met with Trump at the White House. Comey was leading the investigation into whether the Trump 2016 Presidential campaign cooperate with Russian officials and Russia carried out a computer hacking operation created to tilt the election in Trump's favor.

"I appointed him; I stand by that decision, " he said. But according to the Post, by terminating Comey's job, Trump made himself a target.

"His view was still that it... could be misleading, because the nature of the investigation was such that it might well touch - obviously, it would touch the campaign, and the person at the head of the campaign would be the candidate", Comey said.

Friday's tweets are the latest in a week of angry social media responses by the president over a report by The Washington Post that Mueller was looking into whether Trump obstructed justice. The past two days, however, the president has gone full "witch hunt". "I can go around them".

Mueller was named by Rosenstein on May 17 to lead the Russian Federation investigation as a special counsel, a position created to conduct investigations when a normal Justice Department probe would present a conflict of interest.

There is no evidence against the officials of any particular involvement with Trump's campaign. Coats and Rogers refused to comply with the president's requests, officials said..
