UK Conservatives Set to Lose Seats in General Election

Critics, whether in among party comrades or opposition ranks, argued that May is not eligible to lead exit negotiations with Brussels given the circumstances that surrounded her rise to power.

Nonetheless, Tories have seen an upsetting setback in support after the Labour Party presented its left-wing agenda amid intensified controversy hovering over May's proposed health care project for seniors, and her unwelcomed absence from broadcast public debates.

"I called a general election because I believe the British people have a right to vote and say who they want to see leading them through the Brexit process", she said.

The striking thing, though, is that it looks, at first sight, like the Tories have reined in their ambitions.

The Vermont senator who narrowly lost to the eventual presidential nominee and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton added that he had been "very impressed" by Corbyn's campaign but declined to give an official endorsement. Her position as prime ministers may well be weaker, not stronger, on June 9th.

He received his standing ovation at the end, albeit a beat less spontaneous than the one which preceded his appearance, and regular bouts of applause throughout from a delighted crowd enjoying the USA maverick in the flesh, telling them everything they wanted to hear. The truth is that the presidential-style campaign does not suit Theresa May. Will Theresa May's Tory party increase their majority?

The final television event of Britain's general election campaign saw both Prime Minister Theresa May and her main challenger, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, take a pummeling from angry voters.

May retains a commanding lead over Corbyn as to who would make the best prime minister. She has seemed brittle, defensive and wooden in answering questions, as she was yet again last night.

May was accused of "broken promises" for going for an early election on June 8 after she had repeatedly said she would not, and for a U-turn on a key manifesto pledge on elderly social care. It has come to be castigated as the "dementia tax" and would affect the 65-years and over who are basically Conservative Party supporters.

May later softened the proposal by saying there would be a limit on the amount that people would have to pay.

Analysis by Labour suggests that 10.8 million pensioners may lose out if the benefit is restricted to those eligible for pension credit - although the Conservatives have not set out how the means test would work.

Patrick McLoughlin, the Conservative chairman, said after the debate: "Jeremy Corbyn wilted under pressure - he waffled on and on in meaningless soundbites without offering anything of substance". And that would deliver the chaos of a hung parliament.

Labour has said it will not enter into any coalition.

Even Labour's Jewish critics concede its mission aligns better with Jewish values than the policies favored by the Conservative Party, with its repeated cuts to welfare budgets and free-market economics.

"You'd have Diane Abbott who can't add up sitting around the cabinet table, John McDonnell who's a Marxist, Nicola Sturgeon who wants to break our country up, and Tim Farron who wants to take us back into the European Union, the direct opposite of what the people want".
