Subaru confirms that new BRZ STi will be unveiled on June 8th

Subaru of America dropped an image earlier this week teasing what most of the Internet thought was a BRZ in STI performance trim-but according to Motor1, the vehicle seen in that image is actually a special-edition of the WRX STI.

The details of the new BRZ model are sketchy at best. The Type RA will receive a carbon fiber roof (shown above) and rear wing, new Bilstein dampers, and upgraded Recaro seats. The first performance variant is the WRX STI type RA or 'Ring Attempt edition, and the second will be a high-performance BRZ.

The Type RA moniker dates back to the first WRX in 1993.

In the past, improvements to the BRZ included the Performance Pack which focused on improving the car's handling, and ignored fine-tuning the gas engine. Subaru has released another teaser and has now confirmed that this month's debut will be for the WRX STI Type RA - a more hardcore version of the WRX STI.

We will know the answers when Subaru unveils the Subaru BRZ STi on the 8th of June this year. So it remains to be seen whether and when Subaru will introduce the hotter version of the BRZ in other worldwide markets. There's more announcements coming from Subaru. Like the STI Type RA to be revealed, the name plate has always been used to signify it being more lightweight and hardcore than your standard WRX.

As of the moment, there is not much specs to go on regarding the upcoming Type RA.
