Ravens Bolster Secondary by Drafting Alabama's Marlon Humphrey

'I'm hoping to read the Ravens will be picking a cornerback. because we have two incredible wide receivers in our division (to compete against),' he told the website - proving once and for all he has some serious football knowledge.

The Ravens took former Alabama cornerback Marlon Humphrey in the first round Thursday night with the No. 16 overall selection.

That's been the theme for the Ravens this offseason after the team stumbled to an 8-8 finish and missed the playoffs for the second year in a row.

2017 NFL Draft: Day Three Open Thread

That, along with the fact that Terrell Suggs turns 35 in October, left the Ravens in desperate need of someone capable of chasing down a quarterback.

"Just being able to play basketball, you can guard a lot of smaller guards and quicker guards", he said. The Ravens had just one sack in a late-season loss to New England and didn't get to Ben Roethlisberger once in a pivotal 31-27 defeat at Pittsburgh on Christmas Day.

Bowser played basketball at Houston for two years, and he said that quickness in defending shooting guards on the wing in basketball helped him develop as a coverage linebacker.

For T.J., it was all Ravens, all the time. He's 6-5 and 300 pounds, plays the run extremely well and though he's never going to be a prolific pass rusher, he's disruptive.

Wormley was a part of two 10-win seasons at MI after coming in the class of 2012.

Williams had nine sacks in 2016 and 10 ½ in 2015. But I will say that, at first glance, the pick of Marlon Humphrey is somewhat puzzling.

Like I said, I'm super excited to be a part of the organization and super excited to get started.

Humphrey is the son of legendary Alabama running back Bobby Humphrey, who was selected in the first round of the 1989 supplemental draft by the Denver Broncos. For those of you that have been here for years, you know there are going to be players that are going to be released after the draft. It would not be surprising to see the Ravens trade back a bit to take advantage of the quality depth in this draft class. When Humphrey got the call from Baltimore, he and his entire family was overjoyed and rightfully so as he prepared for this journey to reach the NFL.
