Night Shyamalan Announces 'Glass', The Sequel to Split and Unbreakable, & Shares Details

At the end of Split, Willis' character David Dunn made a brief cameo, revealing that the film was set in the same universe as Unbreakable.

M. Night Shyamalan announced Wednesday afternoon, that "Glass" would be the third film in the "Unbreakable" trilogy with a release date of January 18, 2019, and the film will star Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy, and Anya Taylor-Joy. Based on the title, the film will probably center around Samuel L. Jackson character and what his evil plans are for the city - especially if he teams up with James McAvoy. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse are producing and the thriller. He also told Entertainment Weekly of conjuring a sequel in Split's wake, "I don't know what's going to happen when I go off in my room, a week after this film opens, to write the script". "My new film is the sequel to #Unbreakable AND #Split".

In that same tweetstorm, Shyamalan also stated that it was "Always my dream to have both films collide in this third film", and now that dream is becoming reality. The hype around this project is very real, and it is truly a film that has been 17 years in the making.

This year's surpise smash hit, Split, took over $274million on a tiny $8million budget and restored Shyamalan's reputation for crafting unusual breakout sleeper hits. "And I guess that's happened".
