Call of Duty countdown confirms a return to WWII

After artwork and other material leaked for Call of Duty: WWII, it seems that Activision could be officially announcing it this weekend.

Activision posted a blog here that dives into the history of Call of Duty as it pertains to the WWII era. A full reveal is scheduled for next week.

It's could to see that Activision and COD are going back to traditional combat.

Either way, considering it's been nearly a decade since we've gotten a World War 2 Call of Duty game, gamers who are nostalgic for the old days may welcome Call of Duty's return to one of the most destructive wars in human history. Many fans won't be surprised after the disappointing reception of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

According to Activision, additional information and possibly a trailer will be revealed during an official livestream next Wednesday, April 26. Given that the Call of Duty series runs on a triennial development cycle, the new setting is unlikely to be a knee-jerk reaction to that reception.
