Wisconsin churches on alert amid hunt for gun theft suspect

During a recent press conference, the Janesville authorities announced that the search efforts for the individual who has robbed a gun store, looting multiple weapons on Tuesday night have intensified.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office has made contact with area school districts to advise them that Jakubowski remains at-large so that they can make a determination regarding precautionary measures.

A fugitive in Wisconsin has more than a dozen guns and a deep-seated hatred of religion and government, authorities warn. "We consider him to be armed and highly unsafe", Spoden said.

A massive manhunt is underway for a "highly-dangerous" Wisconsin man who USA authorities said stole an arsenal of high-powered weapons from a gun shop and sent a lengthy manifesto to President Donald Trump.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office and Janesville Police Department will be keeping a close eye.

About three hours later, Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden said Jakubowski burglarized a gun store in Janesville, Wisconsin, about 70 miles (110 kilometers) southwest of Milwaukee. Thirty minutes later, Spoden said, a auto was found engulfed in flames near the shop.

Among other weapons, the suspect reportedly stole at least two assault rifles, several high-end handguns, and perhaps even silencers, which the shop advertises on its Facebook page. Jakubowski may have stolen silencers as well, the source said.

Investigators said they analyzed the manifesto and discovered anti-religious views.

Earlier in the week, police said a man matching Jakubowski's appearance visited the Bethlehem Lutheran Church to ask about services, but it was later confirmed that he is not the suspect. Along with the guns, police say he may also have a bulletproof vest.

In a video released Friday by law enforcement, a person investigators believe is Jakubowski drops the manifesto, addressed to the White House, in a mailbox, saying, "Game time, according to WISC".

The registered owner of the vehicle involved in the fire is Joseph A. Jakubowski, 32, listed as residing in the upstairs apartment at 811 Glen St.in Janesville.

Dozens of schools were closed or locked down on Thursday and Friday as authorities continued their search for Jakubowski, who they said should be considered "armed and risky".

"There was one specific case where he attempted to disarm a police officer", Moore told reporters. Law enforcement has already received hundreds of tips, while the Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone with information that could help them catch Jakubowski.
