Nvidia Titan Xp is the new-new king of graphics cards

Nvidia has quietly unveiled this year's Titan graphics card today, the ultra high-end Pascal-powered Titan Xp. The 3,840 CUDA cores play an instrumental role in such potential of the Titan Xp.

If you already have last year's Titan X beating away in your PC, then you might be doubly annoyed that there are now two new, faster cards.

Let us know what you think about the Nvidia Titan Xp and whether or not you are interested in getting one of these beasts. I don't think it's available yet in Australia, but the United States price directly converts to roughly AU$1,590. Full details, plus a link to order the card, are available on Nvidia's official product page.

After all, Nvidia's prior flagship, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (which, according to our sister site, PCWorld, was "the ultimate graphics card, period") was released just a month ago. Both graphics card are even based on the same GP102 platform.

At the same time, Nvidia has promised to release Pascal drivers for the Mac this months, which means that Apple will soon have an opportunity to start playing catch-up on virtual reality. Here's the Titan Xp. The VRAM amount is the same which is 12GB of GDDR5X memory with a 384-bus width with a maximum bandwidth of 547.7GB/sec, which is absolutely insane.

The big hardware news this week was the surprise release of Nvidia's newest new top-of-the-line desktop graphics card, the 2017 Titan Xp. Unless NVIDIA wakes up tomorrow and feels there is still a place for another TITAN based on GP100 with HBM2, but this one will be denoted with a capital "P".

The Titan Xp is, of course, a VR-ready GPU, and it supports the usual bells and whistles, such as Nvidia Ansel, SLI, G-Sync, GameStream, GPU Boost 3.0, and more.

Nvidia could also be hinting that it expects to take AMD's slice of the Apple market when Apple refreshes the Mac Pro.
