National Football League owners say yes to the Las Vegas Raiders

"We believe we, and the Raiders, have worked earnestly for over a decade to find a viable option in Oakland", said National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell.

But it doesn't sound as if some in Oakland would want the Raiders to stick around another season. I want to wish Mark Davis and the Raiders organization the best in Las Vegas.

The move - whenever it should inevitably take place - will end the Raiders' on-again, off-again relationship with the team's longtime home.

"That's like moving the Dallas Cowboys, or like moving the Packers", Green said. The team has up to two more years of them playing in Oakland while the new stadium is being built in Vegas while your breakup happens. But I'm standing up for what I believe in.

"I think one of the things that's positive is that there's a chance there's not going to be re-alignment of our division which, going back a couple years, that was not a foregone conclusion", Hunt said, via Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star. Ain't many fan bases like the Raiders' fan base.

Sure, Davis is taking a gamble by moving his team to Las Vegas, and only time will tell if the gamble pays off for him. "If [sharing Levi's] was an opportunity, we'd certainly sit down and discuss it, but I think there are a lot of moving pieces right now that it's really conjecture to talk about 2019 at this point, when they'd still, obviously, prefer to be at the Coliseum".

The NFL approved the Oakland Raiders' move to Las Vegas on Monday after a 31-1 vote in favor of the move. "Hopefully we can just hop on a plane and go to Vegas and watch the games down there".

With their new 65,000 seat domed stadium not expected to open until 2020, the Raiders are expected to play in Oakland in 2017 and likely 2018.

The team's owners, who along with Davis and his mother, Carol, who own a 47 percent share of the Raiders, include the Davis' heirs and the heirs of the original eight team partners; have been looking to exit Oakland for a couple of years at least.

Under the current contract, the Raiders have options to stay at the Coliseum only for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. I won't attend a game, and I'm not a die-hard Raiders fan, but I do support the city of Oakland.

Davis really started looking for a new place to play when Alameda County raised the rent on the stadium where the Raiders now play. But you can't be blind to the fact that there are families involved, there are people involved, and they need some information.
