Lonzo Ball says he's one and done at UCLA, headed to National Basketball Association

Calipari's latest crop of talented freshmen put Kentucky into a regional final for the sixth time in seven years.

The meeting between the Kentucky Wildcats and UCLA Bruins was easily the most anticipated Sweet 16 matchup.

Lonzo Ball is widely considered the best point guard in the country, and a strong candidate for National Player of the Year.

Fox scored a career-high 39 points on 13-for-20 shooting from the field and 13-for-15 at the foul line as United Kingdom knocked UCLA out of the NCAA with a n 86-75 win. UCLA also has three wins against Top 25 teams, while Kentucky has four wins, but Kentucky played more ranked teams in the 2016-17. Ball had 10 points on 4-for-10 shooting, eight assists and four turnovers in 38 minutes.

Fox, in a rematch from a loss to the Bruins on December 3, had 39 points, the highest of any player in the NCAA Tournament so far this season, to go along with four assists, three rebounds, and two steals. Kentucky will take on No. 1 seed North Carolina, which defeated Butler 92-80 in the first of two South Region semifinal games Friday night. Ball had just six points in the opening half, while freshman classmate T.J. Leaf carried the load for the Bruins with 13 points.

The 16-team field left in the NCAA Tournament features three No. 1 seeds and endless optimism.

The UCLA Bruins (31-4) and the Kentucky Wildcats (31-5) are set for a classic battle of two historically prominent college basketball programs.

Fox was the best player on the floor, sinking medium-range jump shots, getting into the lane at will and scoring 15 points.

Sindarius Thornwell scored 24 points and seventh-seeded SC cruised past third-seeded Baylor 70-50 on Friday night in the East Regional semifinals, the Bears' worst NCAA Tournament loss.

"Sixteen assists and 13 turnovers isn't characteristic of us", UCLA coach Steve Alford said. The second half started with a bang, as the teams combined for 30 points in the first 5:17, capped by a Bryce Alford 3-pointer that cut Kentucky's lead to 50-49. And boy, did De'Aaron Fox pick the right time to have the best game of what will be his short college career.

"I scored like the first 8 points of the game, and after that I was like you know it's going to be a good night for me", Fox said. After a first half that featured 13 lead changes, the Cats were able to pull away late to take down the Bruins 86-75 to advance to the Elite Eight. The victor of that March Madness 2017 game advances to the Final Four in Phoenix.

Monk followed Fox with 21 points, scoring 14 of those in the second half.

I probably know what you're thinking. The Wildcats will play North Carolina in the Elite Eight on Sunday. Named the Most Valuable Player of the Southeastern Conference Tournament, Fox has now scored in double figures in 11 straight games.

But while the Bulldogs would cut the Carolina advantage to 10 points 2 minutes later, they would get no closer the rest of the way.

Great point guards like Fox, like Joel Berry II, like Lonzo Ball, control the game and force their opponents to play their way.

Kentucky also got 11 points from senior guard Dominique Hawkins and eight points, eight rebounds and four assists from senior forward Derek Willis.

No matter how deep it is, if you let a shooter like Monk step into 3-pointers like UCLA did on Friday night, he's going a few of them.
