Derrick Rose to have knee surgery, miss rest of season

After three-straight All-Star appearances from 2009-2012 that included winning league MVP honors in 2010, Rose could not stay on the court for long as a member of the Chicago Bulls.

It appears as though New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose's knee injury was worse than originally expected. Prior to the injury, the Knicks hadn't ruled out the possibility of bringing Rose back for next season, according to sources. "I really can't think about or see how it's going to go while I'm still playing here". The Knicks announced that an MRI had revealed the injury and that Rose would require an arthroscopy.

Rose previously tore his meniscus in 2013.

On Sunday, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Rose will miss the rest of the 2016-17 season with a torn meniscus. In 470 career games, he's averaged 19.5 points and has also chipped in with 6.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds a night.

Traded to NY last June with Justin Holiday for Robin Lopez and Jerian Grant when the Bulls made a decision to cut ties with the Chicago native, Rose's current season got off to a shaky start while he successfully defended himself in civil court against sexual assault allegations brought by a former girlfriend. However, out of a possible 738 career games, Rose has missed 268, so teams will probably be unwilling to open their checkbooks for the unreliable star.
