FBI Director Forced to Fact-Check Trump's Twitter Bullshit in Real

First, FBI director James Comey told the House Intelligence Committee that there was no evidence to back up Trump's Twitter claims that Obama had wiretapped Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign.

The Intelligence Committee hearing has also delivered an official, if guarded, acknowledgement by the FBI that it is in the midst of a thorough investigation into Russian involvement in last year's USA election, including any coordination by members of the Trump campaign team.

With FBI Director James Comey testifying about Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 election, the US president blasted the accusations as "fake news" while boasting about his "real" approval rating!

"I have no information that supports those tweets", Comey said this morning. "The FBI is very careful in how we handle information about our cases and about the people we are investigating".

This is the first public confirmation of an investigation which began last summer, and it comes at the outset of Mr Comey's opening statement to a congressional hearing examining Russian meddling and possible connections between Moscow and Mr Trump's campaign.

Contrary to Trump's tweet, Comey and Rogers are not denying that Russian Federation interfered with the election.

Mr. Comey has never publicly rejected Mr. Trump's wiretapping claim or publicly acknowledged that it has any kind of investigation under way of contacts between the Kremlin and Mr. Trump's associates.

He also said his committee, as well as a similar committee in the Senate, was determined to identify and prosecute any current and/or former US officials - he said they were "numerous" - who had leaked potentially classified information to the media.

National Security Agency head and Navy Adm. Mike Rogers also said he has no evidence that the NSA was involved in any wiretapping.

The intelligence committee's chair, Rep. Devin Nunes, a California Republican, opened the hearing by condemning Russia's cyber and military aggressiveness. "It is still ongoing", Spicer told reporters, saying "no" the President would not withdraw his the claims in his tweet asserting that former President Obama ordered a wiretap of Trump Tower. The FBI has also been investigating ties between Russian Federation and Trump advisers and associates during the campaign.

"The FBI has no evidence to support those tweets", Mr Comey revealed.

Some 14 minutes into the hearing, he tweeted, "What about all of the contact with the Clinton campaign and the Russians?"

U.S. intelligence agencies in January took the extraordinary step of stating publicly that they believe hackers working for Russian Federation broke into the online accounts of senior Democrats and released embarrassing emails with the aim of helping Trump defeat Hillary Clinton. But he added, "If the Trump campaign, or anybody associated with it, aided or abetted the Russians, it would not only be a serious crime, it would also represent one of the most shocking betrayals of our democracy in history".

Neither the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the NSA, or the Department of Justice can substantiate Trump's claims - which he first tweeted on the morning of Saturday, March 4, according to testimony during a House Intelligence Committee hearing Monday.

The House and Senate intelligence committees have jurisdiction over the United State's 17 intelligence agencies.

Trump later said the claims were based on a report by by Judge Andrew Napolitano which he saw on Fox News: "We said nothing..." Must find leaker now!
