Woman forces her way out of auto boot after kidnapping

The suspect's odd behavior and the victim's harrowing escape were recorded on surveillance video.

Police in Alabama said the woman was walking up to her apartment when an unknown man approached her, pulled out a gun, and demanded money.

It was then that the woman knew this was her chance to make an escape if she wanted to live.

Birmingham Police shared a photo of the alleged suspect on Twitter after the incident, as captured by the gas station cameras.

'He looked like he had a pistol in his pocket - I kept an eye on him'.

Gas Land owner Yosef Alsabah told AL.com that the suspect attempted to use the ATM but had some trouble and quickly became frustrated. He told the suspect to try again later.

After she ran into the store, she called the cops and AlSabah locked up the shop after the victim said her captor was armed. He told her to be careful and assured her that the suspect was not coming back. She says the man took her money, wallet and phone and drove her to several ATMs and took her money. But as he was leaving the gas station, the trunk of his black Nissan Altima popped open and a woman jumped out and ran for her life.

CBS affiliate WIAT in Alabama reported Wednesday that the woman freed herself from her captor by jumping out of the trunk while the vehicle was in motion.
