The New Lorde Song 'Green Light' Is Here VIDEO

Lorde's new song Green Light, the first to be taken from Melodrama, was released on Thursday and got its debut play on BBC Radio 1 where she explained that it was about a recent heartbreak. In particular, there'll be "quieter moments, softer moments, vulnerable moments" and "super-rich songs". The song opens with haunting piano tones and frustrated lyrics, "I know about what you did and I wanna scream the truth". I whisper things, the city sings 'em back to you. When you listen to "Green Light" you can hear Ella finding power in dancing and house music and a different kind of wildness.

"I moved out of home and all of a sudden I was kind of figuring out, 'Who am I when I'm alone?' Who am I when I'm doing things just for myself?' And I feel like you can really hear that on this record", she reveals. But what she seems to be saying out loud to the world is, "I'm not over this breakup".

Green Light starts slow and builds up into a classic Lorde dance tune, it's quickly clear the song will become a catchy radio tune. Gone are her long, wavy locks in favor of a sophisticated bob. The singer's debut album, "Pure Heroine", was released the year before in 2013. Pop fans constantly yearn for this marriage of Big Moment and gorgeous nuance. 'I moved out of home and into my own house and basically just had this unbelievable year of independence and freedom and figuring out all this stuff about myself. Who is it that Lorde "can't let go" of, or is she even talking about someone in specific? "This is where we begin", she continued. It's wonderful actually listening to this body of work and being like, 'wow, that is that year of my life in all of its kind of glory and disgusting.' All the gross moments, all great moments. Now she has announced its release date to be 15 June 2017.
