Death threats to Mahesh Bhatt's family

Late Wednesday night, the police registered an FIR recording a statement from Mahesh Bhatt's family who have reportedly been getting death threats from an unidentified caller.

Bhatt previously got the same call on 26 of February but he avoids it thinking to be a prank.

Not only this, the caller also sent threatening messages to Bhatt through WhatsApp.

Subsequently, a case was registered by Juhu Police and the anti-extortion cell of Mumbai Crime Branch launched a probe.

Now, Hindustan Times reports that the Mumbai Police, in tandem with the Uttar Pradesh police, have nabbed a man in Uttar Pradesh who is suspected to be the brain behind the extortion call. During the process, he incurred heavy expenditure, a thing must have been on Sahu's mind when he allegedly made extortion calls to Bhatt.

"Transfer Rs 50 lakhs to my bank account immediately".

68-year-old Bhatt lodged a formal complaint with Mumbai Police Thursday morning. "Once we interrogate him, we will find out the reason behind the threat calls". The police could trace the person and take him into their custody.

At first, Bhatt ignored the phone call thinking of it as a prank but immediately chose to inform the cops when the caller started sending him texts and WhatsApp messages warning him to not take the threats lightly. Mahesh Bhatt signed off by saying, "If you love me then love yourself because I live in you".
