Barack Obama will be in France President race? check out story

A group of Barack Obama devotees in France aren't happy with the homegrown contenders vying for the country's presidency, so they're hoping that the former USA president will step in and run for office this spring.

Obama is neither a French citizen nor does he speak French, and it's unlikely that either of those things would change before April's elections. They call themselves Obama17 and have put up over 500 posters to advertise their website. "Vive la République, Vive Obama, Vive la France and the U.S.A". " Oui on peut", which is French for "Yes we can".

But to become the president of France, you have to be, well, French. Over 27,000 people are reported to have already signed it.

Obama might not be even remotely interested in the job and even if he does, the problem is, he is not a French citizen so he can not contest anyway.

"[He] has the best resume in the world for the job".

The creators of the petition, who wanted to remain anonymous, told NPR it was a joke but it was started out of frustration about politicians in France in general. The campaign is in response to France's own presidential election scandals and growing far-right movement. "He's Barack Obama", one of the campaign organizers told CNN.

'It's definitely a joke.

What does it say about our 44th president if other countries want him as theirs?

There's only one problem: Obama is not a French citizen and therefore can not actually run (not that we're saying he would be even remotely interested). But it could make people think a little bit about what we could do differently in French politics. the idea was to make people wake up reports Daily Mail.

The campaign so far has been tainted with scandal and right-wing rhetoric, with the far-right National Front candidate Marine Le Pen and the conservative Les Republicains candidate Francois Fillon both involved in various hiring scandals, and socialist candidate Benoit Hamon and leftist candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon trailing in the polls. If no candidate wins at least 50 per cent of the vote, the top two candidates go forward to a second round on May 7.
