A group of Barack Obama devotees in France aren't happy with the homegrown contenders vying for the country's presidency, so they're hoping that the former USA president will step in and run for office this spring.
Obama is neither a French citizen nor does he speak French, and it's unlikely that either of those things would change before April's elections. They call themselves Obama17 and have put up over 500 posters to advertise their website. "Vive la République, Vive Obama, Vive la France and the U.S.A". Obama might not be even remotely interested in the job and even if he does, the problem is, he is not a French citizen so he can not contest anyway.

The creators of the petition, who wanted to remain anonymous, told NPR it was a joke but it was started out of frustration about politicians in France in general.
