Instagram Posts Expand to Include Multiple Photos

Nearly two years ago, Instagram introduced a sincerely useful feature to the app: the ability to upload multiple photos at once, letting your followers browse them by swiping on a carousel of images. To change the order of the posts, you tap, hold, and drag.

These posts have a single caption, though, and are square-only for now.

The feature is rolling out now but won't start appearing on everyone's phones straight away so wait until you see an update for Instagram and then you'll know you've got it. This carousel features rolls out globally on iOS and Android over the next few weeks. You can swipe through to see all of the posts, and they support liking and commenting, too.

The new function will allow Instagram users to choose up to 10 photos for each post. It used to be a place where you could go to make your photos look a bit nicer.

In Instagram's six-year existence, people have only been able to upload one photo or video at a time. You can now combine up to 10 of them into a single post, filling your friends' feeds with a new level of storytelling.

Individual profiles can be tagged in each photo or video, but your caption and location tag applies to the whole collection.

The ability to upload multiple images and videos into one single post is actually not that new to Instagram. On your feed, carousels will be marked by a series of dots under a photo, indicating you can swipe through them.

They need to tap on it and can then select multiple photos and videos.
