Cow Takes Police On 2-Hour Chase Through Streets Of Jamaica, Queens

There could be a happy ending for a rogue bull that escaped from a slaughterhouse and led New York City police on a chase through Queens on Tuesday.

The cow then came running down Marsen Street near 168th Street at around 11:30 a.m., CBS2's Ali Bauman reported.

"There was a loose cow reported at Archer Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard" around 10:20 a.m., a police spokesman told Patch. A similar incident happened at least twice a year ago, when cows escaped slaughterhouses.

"It escaped from a slaughterhouse on Jamaica Avenue", CBS 2 NY reports.

The animal was supposed to go into ASPCA custody before heading to an animal sanctuary, but it did not survive the day's excitement, police said.

This wouldn't be the first time a cow has gotten loose in the city. Police officers asked workers at the scene to help corral the animal, the station added.

Police were still waiting for confirmation that the newest escapee had been contained, according to the NYPD.

Footage on WABC-TV showed the black bull trotting through a residential neighbourhood.
