Georges St-Pierre officially back in UFC with new multifight deal

After news circulated earlier this week that Georges St-Pierre and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) were close to terms on a new contract, the mixed martial arts (MMA) world was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.

St-Pierre has publicly stated that he's willing to facing the trio, who are more than worthy of being the 35-year-old's dance partner in his first outing back in the cage.

It could be the victor [of the March 4 welterweight title fight] between Tyron Woodley and Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson, or it could be [middleweight champion] Michael Bisping.

Widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of all time in the sport, St-Pierre vacated his welterweight title in November of 2016 while still riding a 12-fight winning streak, leaving his career record standing at 25-2.

Hendricks eventually captured the welterweight gold after St-Pierre took a hiatus.

Bisping told MMA Hour: "I haven't signed to fight anybody".

Both the UFC and St-Pierre have yet to decide which division he'll compete in upon returning.

But St-Pierre's return could come at a great time for the UFC, since many of its biggest names - all of them headliners for the promotion's most lucrative events - are embroiled in a laundry list of issues. Nearly four years later, he's ready to return to competing inside of the octagon.

No matter who St-Pierre fights against, his return is a welcome sight for the UFC as it is in dire need of stars with Conor McGregor chasing Floyd Mayweather, Ronda Rousey's possible retirement and the current suspension of Jon Jones. We also know that he's now pushing for a potentially earth-shattering matchup with boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather and is yet to defend his belt. "So the deal is nearly done and he wants to fight me", Bisping said, via Bloody Elbow. "So the deal is nearly done and he wants to fight me". He has teased his comeback in the past couple of years but no new deal was signed.
