Tara Palmer-Tomkinson's cause of death revealed

Socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson died of natural causes, according to a series of tweets from her sister, Santa Montefiore.

Earlier today Tara's sister, author Santa Montefiore, also posted a number of tweets saying she was "touched by the warm response to Tara's death".

THE FAMILY OF the late British socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson have issued a statement to say that the 45-year-old died due to a perforated ulcer.

Palmer-Tomkinson had been diagnosed with a brain tumour last January after returning from a ski trip.

"Tara's good friends and family know that she was in high spirits in her last days". News of her death brought a flood of tributes, including from the Prince of Wales, a close family friend, who said he was "deeply saddened". She did not have a brain tumour.

'Contrary to some reports, Tara was not the goddaughter of HRH the Prince of Wales'.

She told the Daily Mail Weekend magazine "I have put them through a lot" and added that her "unfulfilled ambition" was to get back to full health.

Palmer-Tomkinson was been found dead at her London home on February 9.

'Those that knew and were close to Tara knew that there was no retreat to a "dark place" as some have disappointingly sought to suggest. She also supported numerous charities throughout her life, and was a patron of Blue Sky Autism.

A private funeral will be held later this month.

She was also said to have been suffering from an auto-immune disease.

"We would ask that our privacy at this time is respected", the statement said.

However, it's not known whether Tara had the tumour, which she said was on pituitary gland, removed prior to her death or whether she never actually had one.

People all over the country have expressed their sadness at the passing of the legendary TPT - with her best friend Duncan James penning a lovely tribute to her after her death.
