Canadian Pacific Railway Limited Q4 Earnings Advance 7%

Shares of rail giants CSX (CSX) and Norfolk Southern (NSC) surged late Wednesday after Canadian Pacific (CP) said Keith Creel, who helped lead the Norfolk Southern takeover attempt a year ago, will take on the CEO role about five months earlier than planned.

On July 25, 2016, it reported earnings at $0.86 a share compared with the consensus estimate of $0.83 per share (positive surprise of 3.61%). Harrison in a statement noted that the company still generated C$1 billion in free cash flow for the full year and increased full-year earnings per share by 27% despite the economic headwinds. For the quarter, revenue came in at 3.01B versus consensus estimate of 3.08B. The Hedge Fund company now holds 17,237 shares of CP which is valued at $2,507,811. National Bank Financial upped their target price on Canadian National Railway Company from C$84.00 to C$85.00 and gave the stock a "sector perform" rating in a research note on Wednesday, October 26th. Canadian Pacific Railway Limited (USA) makes up approx 0.06% of Cohen Capital Management's portfolio. They issued a buy rating on the stock. Subsequently, Canadian Pacific raised its dividend by 43% to C$0.50 per share.

The Company's business mix includes bulk commodities, merchandise freight and intermodal traffic over a network of approximately 12,500 miles, serving the principal business centers of Canada from Montreal, Quebec, to Vancouver, British Columbia, and the United States Northeast and Midwest regions.
